Aurora Players is pleased to announce auditions for our June 2025 production: Lend Me a Tenor.Auditions will be held at Aurora Players’ Roycroft Pavilion Theater, 166 South Grove Street. Call backs will be on April 2, if needed. The show opens on Friday, June 6 and will run for three weekends through Sunday, June 22. Note: rehearsals begin April 14.

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
Lend Me a Tenor is a hilarious farce set in 1930s Cleveland. Chaos ensues when a renowned opera singer goes missing before a crucial performance. Mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and comedic mishaps abound as the frantic search for the missing tenor unfolds.
Ken Ludwig’s first play, Lend Me a Tenor, was produced on Broadway and in London by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It won three Tony Awards and four Drama Desk Awards and was called “one of the classic comedies of the 20th century” by The Washington Post. It’s an uproarious comedy of errors filled with witty dialogue, madcap situations, and unexpected twists, guaranteeing nonstop laughter and entertainment for audiences seeking rib-tickling fun.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
SAUNDERS (50+)
General Manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company.
MAGGIE SAUNDERS (mid-20s)
Daughter of Saunders, and Max’s girlfriend.
MAX (late 20s)
Assistant to Saunders. Need to be able to sing tenor.
TITO MERELLI (30+)
A world-famous Italian tenor, known also to his fans as “Il Stupendo.” Need to be able to sing tenor.
MARIA MERELLI (30+)
Tito’s wife.
BELLHOP (any age)
A bellhop.
DIANA (30+)
Prima donna soprano of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company.
JULIA (50+)
Chairman of the Opera Guild.
