This is a community theatre production at Stirling Players, Morris Place Innaloo. The show will run from April 24 2026 – May 9 2026.
Auditions will be held Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November 2025. Venue at Stirling Players, Morris Place, Innaloo
Rehearsals will be 2 week nights – they will vary during the run. There will also be one day rehearsal on the weekend. This is a big sing and most people will be required for most rehearsals. Rehearsals will commence in January 2026 and will initially be Choreography rehearsals. Music will commence in February.
Joseph is the colourful and lively tale of Joseph, the youngest son of Jacob who gets sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. It is a lively, funny show with many songs in many styles. The show is sung throughout.
All auditionees please prepare 2 contrasting Musical Theatre songs NOT from Joseph (a verse and chorus is sufficient). The songs should be:
• A song of your choice that you feel shows you, your voice and your acting ability to your advantage.
• A contrasting piece (either in style, tempo or ear)
You may be asked to sing only one song. However, make sure you are very familiar with your repertoire as you may be re-directed.
Please have backing track if required on a device or usb. There will not be an accompanist although a keyboard will be available.
Auditions will be in hourly blocks. A movement call will make up about 30 minutes of your audition. Please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear. Females will need heels for dancing.

Narrator {3} – Sopranos with a strong rock singing voice (high belt to E full range Mezzo) who is strong on comedy and moves well. The guide through the story.
Joseph Tenor. The twelfth son of Jacob. Obviously, his father's favorite, Joseph, early on, shows a talent for interpreting dreams and telling the future. This gets him into trouble with his brothers when he predicts his future will include ruling over the other eleven. However, it saves his life, when in Egypt, he correctly interprets Pharaoh's dreams. In the end, he has risen to a great position of power, but he still forgives his brothers and brings his family to Egypt to partake of the bounty he has accumulated there.
JACOB – JOSEPH’s father. An actor in his 50’s/60’s with a baritone voice. (May double as POTIPHAR)
JOSEPH'S BROTHERS – Eleven brothers with strong singing voices Mixed male ranges (Low A to High A, Basses down to E), the ability to dance, and contrasting body types and ethnicities. Requires featured solo brothers for Country and Western style in "One More Angel in Heaven," Jacques Brel/Maurice Chevalier style for "Canaan Days," Harry Belafonte style in "Benjamin Calypso”, two brothers to double the BUTLER and BAKER, and a strong dancer with partnering ability (Adagio) in "The Apache." May cast female if they have the vocal range.

POTIPHAR – A powerful and rich Egyptian. Joseph works in his household. A Noel Coward type character. Baritone. (May double as JACOB).
MRS. POTIPHAR – Alto/Mezzo. Beautiful and scheming. (Will double as a WIFE.)
BUTLER – Tenor/Baritone, played by a BROTHER. Character role with a look that contrasts with the BAKER.
BAKER – Tenor/Baritone, played by a BROTHER. Character role with a look that contrasts with the BUTLER.
PHAROAH – Good actor/singer with Tenor/Baritone range. Elvis Presley impersonator type who moves well. (Can be a cameo or may double as a BROTHER). Those auditioning for Pharaoh should prepare an Elvis impersonation vocal piece in addition to their other prepared vocal piece.
CHORUS – Mixed ranges. Sopranos (to High C), chorus will be wives and others. They will also sing all children chorus parts (probably off stage). 11 to play the WIVES of JOSEPH'S BROTHERS, including a strong female dancer with partnering ability (Adagio) in "The Apache.” Those auditioning for the “Apache Dancer” will be taught a different dance at audition as a featured dancer.
