ABOUT THE SHOW:
Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show based on the beloved Nickelodeon animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg! When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world! An exciting musical featuring irresistible characters and magical music, this deep-sea pearl of a show is set to make a splash with audiences young and old. The future is bright, the future is bold, the future is THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL.
A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTORS:
Geri, Hannah, Amelia, and Paulius are looking for a diverse group of performers for this show. Whether you are a singer, actor, or dancer, or any combination of those, there is a place for you! There is so much heart and variety in this show that we really want a wide range of talent! And if you have a unique talent or skill – such as martial arts, puppetry, stilt walking, mime, clowning, break dancing, juggling, etc. – we want to know that too!!!! Come to the audition ready to have a great time, and be ready to show off who you are. This is a show about friendship first and foremost, so let's have a great time and make new friends!
ABOUT AUDITIONS:
The casting team are seeking a wide array of actors – AGES 10 AND UP – to play the roles described at this link: https://rb.gy/j1dtsv Important note: While auditions are open to those ages 10 and up, ALL PRINCIPAL ROLES will be played by adults or teens. Younger children will be in the ensemble of sea creatures.
Actors of all races, gender identities, and (dis)abilities will be considered for all roles. Four County Players does not engage in pre-casting. All roles are available, flexible (including double-casting), and we are open to nontraditional casting for this production.
Initial auditions will consist of 1.5 hour time blocks. Each time block will begin with a group movement/dance audition. Following this, you will be called in individually to sing your audition song. After you have sung, you are free to leave.
MOVEMENT / DANCE AUDITION: The dance audition will consist of being led through a warm-up and then a quick review/teach through of the choreography from the video*. Wear clothes you can move in, and close-toed shoes. If you have tap shoes, please bring them (we need a few strong tap dancers in the ensemble, in addition to Squidward!). You will have a chance to change your clothes before your vocal audition, if you wish (but by no means is that an expectation).
*Note: a video of the dance audition will be emailed to everyone signed up about a week before auditions.
VOCAL AUDITION: Please prepare a song around 32 bars (or approximately 1 minute) that shows us how amazing you are! Musical theater songs are preferred. We will have a live accompanist and do need to hear you sing with the piano. Those who have signed up will receive an email about a week beforehand with instructions to email us a PDF of your audition sheet music – in your key, clearly marked with start/stop points. This is preferred, but you may also bring your music hole-punched and in a three-ring binder. Set yourself up for success! Musicnotes.com is a great resource for music – and feel free to email [email protected] with any questions.
Scene readings will be at callbacks, so you don’t need to worry about that at initial auditions, but Geri and Hannah recommend you familiarize yourself with the story and the script if possible. Copies of the script are available upon request (email [email protected]).
