SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION
Nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play, this 1990 John Guare tragicomedy was brought to the screen in the 1993 film starring Will Smith. Based on an actual incident—in which a young Black man gained access to the homes of upper-class New Yorkers by pretending to be the son of Sidney Poitier—Guare’s tour de force is a comprehensive picture of a fragmented society, one in which those simple six degrees that bind people together are overlooked, blatantly ignored, and, very occasionally, celebrated.

WHAT TO KNOW/PREPARE
- No preparation is needed. Sides will be provided. These are available to view in advance at www.ristage.org/six-degrees
- No reservations are needed. Arrive anytime within the audition window.
- Provide a resume and headshot along with your audition form, either in person or via our website at www.ristage.org. Please include ALL conflicts from November through February on your audition form.
- Please email Director Philip Markella at [email protected] if you have any questions or are unable to make the audition times. Video submissions will be accepted.
- This show features some adult themes. Actors under the age of 18 may only audition with the consent of a parent/legal guardian.
- RISE is a non-profit, non-Equity, volunteer-based theater company. All positions within the company are unpaid, unless otherwise specified.
