Clayton Community Theatre is excited to announce auditions for our upcoming production of Man of La Mancha! Our Artistic Director Sam Hack will direct, with music direction by Gene Rauscher, and choreography by Lauren Neels. This is a fantastic opportunity for talented performers to showcase their skills and be part of a vibrant and creative team.Audition Dates/Times: December 6, 2025, 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM, and December 7, 2025, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Location: Washington University South Campus, 6501 Clayton Rd. (Park in the lot to the west of the building off Clayton Road; enter at the glass doors.)
Characters (All performers play at least 2 roles and do at least some singing and movement/dance)
Sancho Panza (age 40-65)
Cervantes/Don Quixote/Alonso Quijana (age 45-60)
Governor/Innkeeper (age 35-60)
Captain of the Inquisition (age 25-50)
The Duke/Dr. Sanson Carrasco/Knight 0f the Mirrors (age 25-40)
4 -7 Muleteers (1 of whom should play guitar) (age 20-50)
Aldonza/Dulcinea (age 25-45)
Maria, innkeeper’s wife (age 35-60)
Fermina, serving girl
Antonia, Alonso’s niece (age 16-30)
Housekeeper (age (45-70)
Padre (age 35-60)
Barber (age 30-60)
Moorish Girl, primarily a dance role but could be doubled with singing role (age 20-40)
4 Attendants to Knight (probably doubled from other roles)

Requirements
● Every auditioner will be asked to participate in acting, singing and movement/dance auditions.
● Acting auditions will consist of cold readings.
● Wear comfortable clothes and be ready to participate in a brief group movement exercise.
● Singers: Prepare 26-bar cuts of 2 songs (verse/chorus and bridge you are comfortable with, bring sheet music or backing track). If called back, you will be assigned song(s) to learn and prepare.
● Please bring a current headshot and resume if available.

Who Can Audition?
Auditions are open to performers of all ethnicities, identities, and backgrounds, ages 16 and up. We welcome both newcomers and seasoned actors to participate. No previous experience is required—just bring your passion and enthusiasm!
Rehearsal and Production Dates
Rehearsals for music and dance will begin in late January 2026.
Blocking and acting rehearsals will begin the second week of February 2026.
Performances are April 23 – May 3, 2026.
