About the Show:
Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me a Soprano is a sparkling new take on his Tony Award-winning Lend Me a Tenor. The story follows a high-strung opera company general manager, her wide-eyed assistant, and a glamorous opera star whose arrival sets off an evening of mistaken identities, slamming doors, and outrageous comedy. NOTE: This show is a fast-paced farce requiring strong comedic timing, bold physical choices, and fearless energy.
Roles Available:
Mrs. Wylie (Lucille Wylie)-General Manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, 1934. Bold, flamboyant, outspoken—a force of nature who expects things done her way.
Jo-Mrs. Wylie's assistant. Late-20s, practical but frazzled, smart yet undervalued. Must have or reveal a hidden talent (singing). At one point uses a faux Italian accent.
Jerry-Son of Mrs. Wylie. Early-30s, romantic, somewhat laid-back but tied into the business and family pressures.
Elena Firenzi-World-famous soprano engaged to perform one night only in Carmen. Elegant, glamorous, confident—and accustomed to adoration. Italian accent required.
Pasquale-Elena’s husband/consort. Italian accent. Jealous, passionate, handsome, very much part of the chaos that follows Elena’s arrival (or non-arrival).
Leo-Tenor in the opera company (Dutch accent). Handsome, warm, confident, a bit of a charmer. Adds another layer of romantic & comedic tension.
Chairwoman of the Opera Guild (age 60s+). High-society type, somewhat grand and perhaps oblivious of backstage chaos but influential in the production’s success.
Bellhop-Hotel employee (any gender). Youngish (20-40), eager, energetic, a little goofy—provides physical comedy and scene-shifting backstage movement.
Audition Requirements:
*Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script. (Sides will be provided.)
*Actors may be paired with scene partners to assess chemistry and timing.
*Bring: 1) Calendar of all potential conflicts from January 5-through performances; headshot & résumé (if available, but not required)

*Typical schedule: TBA
*Tech Week: January 31 -February 6th, 2026
Notes from the Director (Layla Tenney):
This farce thrives on rhythm, precision, and bold choices. I’m looking for actors who can commit to high-energy comedy while keeping the characters grounded in truth. Don’t be afraid to take risks and have fun—this is a play that shines when the performers fully embrace the chaos and joy of live theatre. Come ready to play. Come ready to laugh. Come ready to join the chaos!
