Auditions for Waterworks Players Community Theatre’s production of Five Women Wearing the Same Dress by award-winning writer/director Alan Ball and directed by Leigh Lunsford will be held on Monday, April 29 at 7 PM and Tuesday, April 30 at 7 PM at the Waterworks Players Theatre, 25 SMI Way, Farmville, VA 23901.
Ball won an Oscar and Golden Globe for writing 1999’s American Beauty. He also created the critically acclaimed TV series Six Feet Under and True Blood.

Play Synopsis: Five reluctant bridesmaids gather in an upstairs bedroom to avoid the wedding reception taking place below. Despite their differences, they discover they have more in common with each other than with the bride.
Please Note: This comedy contains adult language and content and is intended for mature audiences only.
The production runs August 2, 3, 4, 9, and 10, 2024.
Rehearsals will begin in late June following dress fittings and a read through in early May. Shows at Waterworks normally rehearse Sunday through Thursday evenings, although not all cast members will be called each night.
Adult actors of any age and any race/ethnicity are encouraged to audition. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Please bring any conflict dates to auditions.
Seeking Actors for the Following Roles (character ages given, actor ages may vary):
Frances: A bridesmaid in her early 20s. Very naive and religious cousin of the bride.
Meredith: A bridesmaid in her early 20s. The bride’s rebellious younger sister who has an outwardly tough attitude which hides some insecurity and past trauma.
Trisha: A bridesmaid in her early 30s. An old friend of the bride, she is a beauty with a wild past. She avoids romantic relationships but is accepting of new people, non-judgmental, and content with her life.
Georgeanne: A bridesmaid in her early 30s. The bride’s “ugly sidekick” in high school and college. She has a strained relationship with the bride because of the past and is in an unhappy marriage.
Mindy: A bridesmaid in her mid-late 30s. The groom’s clumsy and outspoken lesbian sister.
Tripp: An usher in his late 20s or early 30’s. Cousin of the groom and Mindy. A smooth and straightforward conversationalist. Connects with Trisha.
