ABOUT THE SHOW:
Dave can’t ask Mary on a date without feeling he’s cheating on his deceased wife. Dave’s new friend Kyle, a fellow widower, is new to Kernersville and tries to help, but he’s has taken a shine to Dave’s daughter, June, and now he has some problems of his own. June’s friends don’t help with their advice and accusations toward Kyle. Meanwhile Carol, June’s teenage daughter, is having trouble with a ten-year-old stalker. It takes a time capsule, an elaborate date proposal, a “killer bee”, and more to resolve these issues and let them find love at the Kernersville Honeybee Festival.

ROLES/CHARACTERS:
Dave Elliot – Male actor who is able to portray a 60ish grieving widower. Mostly dramatic but he has playful conversations with his family and friends. His character arch spans most of the show as he faces his grief, works through some issues, then awkwardly pursues Mary Freedman. Father of June.
Mary Freedman– Female actor who is able to portray a 60ish widow. She is mentally and emotionally healthy but is frustrated over Dave’s behavior toward her. They like each other but she must make sure Dave is able to move on. Mostly dramatic, but she has some comedic banter with Dave.
Cora Styles* –Female actor who is able to portray a 60ish widow. She is content with her dog, blunt, a little eccentric, and is a friend of the family. She is mainly comic relief and has some physical comedy to perform
June Elliot – Female actor who is able to portray a 40ish divorcee and mother. She is a head- strong romantic who is trying to force her love interest, Kyle, into her plans. There are some dramatic moments, normal moments, but she must excel at physical comedy.
Kyle Murphy – Male actor who is able to portray a 40ish widower. Retired military, good hearted and wants to help. He is guarded and while he helps Dave with his grief, he helps himself. His arch is emotionally balanced.
Virginia Miller – Female actor who is able to portray a 40ish flirty divorcee. She is a friend with everyone and a comic sparing partner with Cora.
Carol Williams*- Female actor who is able to portray high school student. She wants to go to film school and has that passion throughout the play. She is at odds with her mother at first, but they reconcile. Her issues with Walter show her angst.
Walter Tenneson – Male actor who is able to portray a Ten-year-old who has a crush on Carol. He acts much older than his age, thinks he’s a “ladies’ man”, but is still gullible. He must have physical comedic skills.
*Cora and Carol must be approximately the same height and build.
