SUMMARY:
Barefoot in the Park is one of the most beloved comedies of Neil Simon. Newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter are over the moon to begin their life together in their new apartment in Manhattan. It may be small and a six-flight climb, the heating may be busted and snow may be falling through the skylight, but nothing can quash their newlywed bliss. Paul is a straight-laced lawyer and Corie a romantic free-spirit; nevertheless, opposites attract and the two are wild about each other. Corie decides to set her conservative widowed mother up with their eccentric, bohemian neighbor. A wild night ensues, one that highlights just how different Corie and Paul are. The young couple must learn how to accept and embrace their differences as they learn that marriage is no easy walk in the park.
Corie Bratter - female, 18-35
Corie is young, bright and head over heels in love with her newlywed husband, Paul. Corie wants to seize every moment and adventure as she carves out their new life together. Her insatiable spirit creates sparkling memorable moments but her immaturity leads to conflict.
Paul Bratter - male, 18-35
Paul is Corie's responsible and doting husband. Now that the honeymoon is over, Paul is focusing on his budding career as a lawyer. He can be brazen but his practical approach to life balances his new marriage.
Mrs. Banks - female, 40-70
Mrs. Ethel Banks is Corie's mother. Now, Corie is moved out and Ethel is an empty nester and is unsure what her next move is as a single, uninhibited woman. She is excited to watch Corie and Paul turn into young adults even though her daughter's approach seems a little bizarre.
Victor Velasco - male, 40-70
Victor Velasco is the worldly and eccentric attic-dwelling neighbor to Paul and Corie. He and Corie share the same Carpe Diem spirit -- his nights are filled with exotic foods, slow dances and serenades.
