Synopsis:
Lustful Youth is a lightning-paced farce. Walt, a television statistician, has been contractually obliged to write an evening soap opera against his will. With the help of his muse, Dill, he wanders in and out of “realities” as he pieces together a more and more out-of-control romp known as “Lustful Youth.”
Cast of Characters (Note: Each role is more than one character: one character in the reality of the play, and another character in the reality of the “Lustful Youth” TV show):
Walt: A socially awkward statistician who is forced to write a new soap opera. He also portrays Jake III in the “Lustful Youth” TV show and plots to murder Jake I. *This role requires kissing on stage.*
Dill: Walt’s muse that only he can see and hear. Outgoing, impulsive, and pretty much the
exact opposite of Walt. She observes most of the action and gives Walt advice, whether he wants it or not. Dill wants him to succeed but she isn’t afraid to call him out on his nonsense. She also portrays June in the “Lustful Youth” TV show and gets abducted by aliens.
April/Nora: Nora is Walt’s ex-girlfriend and the inspiration for April in Lustful Youth. She is an actor who is cast in the TV show and wants to meet the writer, not knowing it’s Walt. She mainly portrays April in the “Lustful Youth” TV show, the leading lady and romantic interest. She is married to Jake I while having an affair with Jake II. *This role requires kissing and physical intimacy on stage.*
Tony/Jake I: Tony is a business professional and Walt’s boss. He is driven by money and
success and has never been told “no” in his adult life. He also portrays Jake I in the “Lustful Youth” TV show. Jake I is April’s husband and is having an affair with May. After hitting his head in a car accident, he believes he is a folk singer. (Actual guitar and singer talent optional.)*This role requires kissing and physical intimacy on stage.*
Carl/Jake II: Carl is a yes-man employee for Tony. He tries to be tough and aggressive like Tony but he’s extremely insecure. He also portrays Jake II in the “Lustful Youth” TV show, the leading man and romantic interest. He is having an affair with April and plots to K*ll Jake I. His several professions include gigolo, plumber, electrician, and stockbroker. *This role requires kissing and physical intimacy on stage.*
Deb/May: Deb is a shy intern for Tony. She wants Walt to succeed and helps him any way she can. She also portrays May in the “Lustful Youth” TV Show.
