ABOUT THE PLAY:
The play is set forty minutes outside New York City in a large Victorian, upscale house in the late 80s. The entire play takes place over one evening - Charley and Myra Brock’s 10th wedding anniversary party. Their guests arrive expecting a fancy celebration, but the night spirals into chaos and rumors. The characters are lawyers, politicians, psychiatrists, and socialites accustomed to wealth and reputation. The comedy stems from how these polished, high status, well-to-do people lose control under pressure.
Seeking 10 strong actors. Comfortable with fast-paced, sharp dialogue, comedic timing, and physical comedy which requires a good range of movement. We are looking for actors who bring a specificity to the text - not pushing for laughs, rather playing comedy rooted in truth based off their characters desires, motives, and given circumstances.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:
Ken Gorman (Male-identifying to play range of 40s-50s) - A well-to-do, well spoken lawyer. Takes charge of the situation. Chris’ husband. Charley’s attorney and friend. Ken is the main driver of the play, and the actor must be able to lead the constant high stakes and fast paced dialogue.
Chris Gorman (Female-identifying to play range anywhere between 30s-50s) - Ken’s elegant wife. Also a lawyer. Beautiful, easily flustered. Frantically tries to remain normalcy at the party. Recently quit smoking, which drives her to drink a bit more.
