**AUDITION INFORMATION** ----------------------
At the beginning of each audition I will give a more in depth explanation of how I envision the show, what you can expect of me and what I expect of you. The etiquette of the session will be no different from a standard improv workshop.
----------------------
LA RONDE FARCE ~ 11:00 – 13:00
----------------------
Main pool of 6-7 members. Shorter (25min) shows will have a cast of 4
We will ask the audience for a group of people they are a member of and something that caused controversy amongst them. We pick each one from a different audience member and fudge them together. Format sits somewhere between a La Ronde (a chain of 2 person scenes (A and B, B and C, C and D etc.)) and the Slacker (No sweep or tag edits, character enter and exit the scene and the location only changes by following the characters). There will be 3 rounds with each ending in a group scene. The order will change between each chain to create the best/worst situations.
Strong character work is a must as we need to clearly set up our character's wants, perspective and relationships. Beyond that I'm looking for team members with good on stage chemistry.
The level of commitment I'm looking for is at least one full team rehearsal per month with additional cast rehearsals to prepare for shows.
----------------------
LUNCH ~ 13:00-14:00
----------------------
Open to all members, probably get suggestions off the Malt Cross menu, format is standard pub lunch, looking for basic eating skills and if you commit to finishing your main can have a pudding.
----------------------
HORROR MYSTERY DOCUMENTARY ~ 14:00 – 16:00
----------------------
6 performers and 1 light and sound tech (not necessarily dedicated roles)
We will get a normal “thing” (object, person, concept) to be the source of horror in our show by getting the audience chant their suggestions and converge on one. The shows opening is the documentary format (interviews to “camera” like in “when harry met sally”) but the main section will loosely be the Lotus format, 3 rounds of 3 scenes in essence repeated but becoming darker in tone each time. The show will start in the dark, interviews will be performed by spotlight. Sound effects and blackout edits will be controlled by tech (dependant on venue).
The main thing I'm looking for is commitment to the premise. We will be focusing on Cosmic, Eldritch and Existential horror but will mostly likely borrow tropes from dark fantasy and sci fi so a familiarity with them and an openness to explore those genres would be desirable. Level of commitment is again at least one rehearsal a month with additional to prepare for shows.
----------------------
The auditions will be held in the Malt Cross workshop. If you have not been to the Malt Cross before it is down the stairs under the main stairwell at the nearest end of the bar as you enter
----------------------
Names of the teams are still being workshopped but if you have a suggestions please feel free to share.
----------------------
Please wear comfortable clothing and sensible shoes as we will be moving around a lot. Feel free to bring a water bottle but the Malt Cross does have a water station at the end of the bar.
----------------------
If this sounds at all interesting, I thoroughly encourage you to come along regardless of experience level. In my opinion enthusiasm, commitment and team rapport count for far more than a good “Improv CV”. Just treat this like it's a free workshop, play as you would usually play but I will also be providing feedback upon request.

RESPONDING TO THIS EVENT IS NOT BOOKING YOUR PLACE
For simplicity's sake, this will be the main way I will communicate information about the auditions going forward. Please include which auditions you wish to attend, if you would like feedback and any further information you consider important for me to be aware of.
(if you are interested but can't make the 1st still let me know and we may be able to sort something another time)
P.S. Feel free to share your favourite farce or horror in the comments
