💦 ABOUT THE SHOW
The Drowning Girls recounts the haunting story of Bessie, Alice, and Margaret — three of the many wives of George Joseph Smith, an Edwardian conman who married women, insured their lives, and drowned them in their baths.
Now, these ghostly brides rise from their bathtubs to tell their stories — reliving the events that led to their deaths and uncovering how they were betrayed not only by a murderer, but by society itself.
Full of striking imagery, dark humor, and lyrical language, The Drowning Girls is both a breathtaking fantasia and a chilling social critique.
🫧 WHAT TO EXPECT
Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
Please bring:
-A theatrical résumé
-A list of all conflicts from January 8 – March 29
💧 Note: Those cast must be comfortable getting wet on stage — head to toe (but clothed). Actors will be barefoot, submerged in a few inches of water, have water poured over their heads, move in and out of clawfoot tubs, and perform on a wet stage in Victorian wedding gowns. This is a physically demanding show.
⏰ REHEARSALS
Primarily Saturdays (4-hour daytime blocks) and 1–2 weekday evenings. Due to the ensemble nature of the piece, all actors will be called to most rehearsals.
