In 19th century England the prisons are overcrowded and petty crime is rife. The solution? Punishment by Transportation. This play shows the brutal journey by sea that six women sentenced to a life of hard labour in penal colonies in Australia are forced to make, all from the inside of their prison cell.
Director Jess Hutchings says: "I am looking for team players who can work together to create an immersive experience for our audience and navigate dark themes. While there will be a big focus on ensemble work during the rehearsal process, there will also be opportunities for individual character development work. Each role has its own specific challenges, so please speak to me if you’d like more information before auditioning."
