Join us for an event in partnership with Edinburgh Museums and Galleries to Celebrate Edinburgh900: City of Ideas. The Enlightenment may be seen mainly as a male phenomenon, but women were there too! Join tour guide Ruth Boreham to hear about writers, painters, botanists, scientists, philosophers, a cookery teacher who published the first ever ‘standard’ Haggis recipe in Scotland, a club just for women, and much more.
Starting on Castle Esplanade you will wind your way down the Lawnmarket, onto the High Street, down the Mound and finish in the New Town near the Assembly Rooms on George Street.
This tour will take approximately 2 hours. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring rainwear. This tour will be step-free.
The tour is free, but booking advised.
