Welcome Auckland flyfishing enthusiasts!
Come along to the Auckland Flyfishing Anglers Club Inc. OPEN club night.
You don't need to be a current AFAC member to come along and get involved! This night is open to anyone who has a passion for flyfishing (both fresh and salt) and wants to find out more about AFAC and the MANY benefits of being a member!.
Proudly supported by Rod and Reel NZ, Newmarket, Join us in their event room (The 'Butchers' Room) at 480D Broadway, Newmarket at 6.30pm for informal/social gathering, followed by club meeting/info eve.
Meeting schedule:
Pre-Meeting: 6.30pm
Barbeque
Fly Tying: Stephen Kerr
Ask and Expert:
Still confused by the difference between wet flies, dry flies, emergers, wee wets, streamers and when and how to use them? Never heard of CDC? Damon Scott will be explaining his favourite flies.
Main Meeting: 7.00 pm
David Cooper will be giving a presentation on New Zealand native freshwater fish with particular reference to their relevance to sports fish (like trout), the impact of introduced trout on the native species and perhaps a bit of “crystal ball gazing” about the future. David has over 50 years of dealing with live freshwater fish. First as an aquarist in the ornamental fish arena, as a conservationist concerned with freshwater fish (a member of the IUCH Freshwater Fish Specialist Group), an aqua-culturalist engaged in the commercial breeding of freshwater fish (native and introduced) and currently as an educator in the field and as a consultant building freshwater fish displays in zoos, museums and schools.
He is also an occasional, enthusiastic but highly unsuccessful trout fisherman.
As a reminder Rod & Reel will be open, so you will be able to pop out and stock up on your fishing supplies.
