Join us for a light lunch and a discussion on the changing landscape for employing migrant workers.
About this Event

Closed borders have had a significant impact on New Zealand’s job market. We have seen a number of businesses face staff or talent shortages at the same time as increased uncertainty surrounding the immigration rules to employ foreign workers. Lukas and Jo will be able to answer some of your questions around upcoming changes in Immigration policy. Please note that the new accreditation visa and rules scheduled for 1 November have been deferred to mid next year.

Lukas will discuss topical immigration issues including:

• Visa pathways• Difference between employer-specific vs. open visas?

• How wages affect work visa length and conditions

• Update on residence applications

• Employer accreditation – uses, benefits and limitations

• New accreditation system, deferred to next year. What planning should you be doing now?

• New visa application process – “a new employer-led process”

In this seminar, Jo will discuss common issues affecting the employment relationship including:

• Responsibility for ensuring employees are legally entitled to work

• Implications for ongoing employment / considering termination for staff employed on visas

• Ensuring compliance for accreditation

• Human resource policies and employment practices that meet the standard

• Recent employment case law

Light lunch will be served from midday till 12.30pm with presentations from 12.30pm
