Auaha is a dynamic, teacher-led primary Drama and Literacy conference designed by teachers, for teachers. Led by experienced educators from the Drama and Arts sector, this inspiring event builds on the success of three previous conferences and offers a supportive space to explore creative approaches to literacy learning.Through hands-on workshops, drama experiences, masterclasses, and panel discussions, participants will discover how drama-based pedagogy can strengthen literacy achievement, increase engagement, and build student confidence and creativity. Teachers take part as active learners, connecting practical experiences with evidence-based research.
The conference focuses on three key themes:
• Engagement
• Inclusive Practice
• Curriculum Integration
Rather than a “nice to have,” Drama is explored as a powerful, integrated teaching approach.
Featuring leading experts from Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia, including Dr. John Saunders (Australian Catholic University), Dr. Julie Dunn (Griffith University), Professor Peter O’Connor (University of Auckland), and Dr. Marthy Watson (University of Southern Queensland).
Join us for an uplifting and professionally enriching experience focused on literacy through creativity.
