Leveraging linked data for suicide prevention research
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) and LIFEWAYS are collaborating to present an interactive workshop on using linked data in suicide prevention research.
The AIHW is an independent statutory Australian Government agency with more than 30 years of experience working with health and welfare data. The AIHW is also an international leader in data linkage, and an accredited Integrating Authority.
LIFEWAYS is a consortium of eight university and non-government partner agencies led by the University of Melbourne with a national mandate to strengthen Australian suicide prevention research and facilitate its effective translation into policy and practice.
The workshop will be chaired by Jane Pirkis as the research lead for LIFEWAYS. AIHW representatives will highlight recent key publications looking at suicide and other mortality outcomes for users of specialist homelessness services and users of specialist alcohol and other drug treatment services.
Opening remarks and an overview of the suicide prevention policy landscape will be provided by Kristen Price, Assistant Secretary, Suicide Prevention Branch, Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
Importantly, AIHW representatives will present on existing research collaborations that have been developed between data linkage experts, researchers, and policy-makers. There will be opportunities for interactive discussions about future research collaborations with the AIHW that capitalise on the Institute’s linked data environments.
Come and join the discussion with:
