About this Event

Pamela Z, Mentoring Artist-in-Residence at Atlantic Center for the Arts (May 12-June 1, 2024) with Mentoring Artist Sonja Henderson, sculptor and visual artist will present an in-formance in partnership at Timucua Arts Foundation on May 27, 2024 from 7:30 – 9:30 pm located 2000 S. Summerlin Avenue Orlando, 32806. The event is free to the public.

Pamela Z is passionate about experimentation and curiosity with blurring the lines between disciplines and approaches. A composer/performer and media artist working primarily with voice, live electronics, sampled sound, and video, Pamela Z is a pioneer of live looping as she processes her voice to create complex sonic layers. Her solo works combine experimental extended vocal techniques, operatic bel canto, found objects, text, digital processing, and wireless MIDI controllers that allow her to manipulate sound with physical gestures. Pamela will present Happy Accidents and Blurred Lines. Through video examples and live performance, composer/performer and interdisciplinary artist Pamela Z will shed light on her work and her process, and will discuss the increasingly blurred lines between disciplines in her practice. Highlighting her use of voice, live processing, gesture-based MIDI controllers, video, and found text, she will share both past and current works.
Sonja Henderson is a composer/performer and media artist. While in residence, Sonja provided mentorship to 18 emerging artists from across the country working in visual arts, sculpture, poetry, culinary/hybrid memoir, music composition, and performance. Sonja will be presenting Woman Made: Creating the Mamie Till-Mobley and Emmett Till Memorial and "Community Built" monuments.

Monumental work and Community Built solutions to loss, grief trauma and mass incarceration.
