[English version below]À travers leurs tissages, les six artistes de l’expo "LONGING – fils tissés, récits croisés" évoquent leur histoire et interrogent les notions d’origine, d’héritage, d’appartenance, de la famille, de la spiritualité et de l’existence.
Dans le cadre de cette exposition d'art contemporain, les artistes tisserands Mariana Silva Varela et Côme Touvay proposent un atelier de tissage ouvert à tous, pour apprendre à tisser avec le poids de son propre corps !
Cet atelier est encadré par des étudiants de diverses écoles d’arts appliqués parisiennes, eux-mêmes formés par les artistes Mariana Silva Varela et Côme Touvay. Il s’agit d’une initiation au tissage à la ceinture, pratique ancestrale et universelle proposée ici avec des métiers à tisser suédois. L’atelier est en accès libre pendant trois heures.
L’atelier est suivi d’une rencontre avec Mariana Silva Varela et Côme Touvay ainsi que Sophie Desrosiers, historienne et anthropologue spécialiste du textile.

The weaving of narratives has a long history. For thousands of years tapestries have been used for various reasons: for spiritual and religious purposes, to tell the tales of important events in society, as a form of propaganda or of protest. In the exhibition "LONGING – woven strands, woven stories", six artists from different parts of the world present personal narratives through their woven works, tackling issues of origin, heritage, belonging, family, spirituality and purpose.
To coincide with this exhibition, the weaving artists Mariana Silva Varela and Côme Touvay are offering a weaving workshop open to all.
Led by students from various Parisian schools of applied arts, who were taught the technique by Mariana Silva Varela and Côme Touvay, this workshop offers the opportunity to try band weaving, an ancestral and universal practice proposed here with Swedish looms. You are free to come and try your hand at band weaving whenever you like during the afternoon (3-6 pm).
The workshop is followed by a discussion between Mariana Silva Varela, Côme Touvay and Sophie Desrosiers, a historian and anthropologist specialising in textiles.
