The Tar River Astronomy Club presents a free hands-on program at the 3:00 p.m., April 5, 2025 meeting, at Rocky Mount’s Imperial Centre for the Arts & Sciences. The theme is, “ASTRONOMY SHOW & TELL.”Steve Schmidt & John Todd will demonstrate the use of several exciting new pieces of astronomical equipment that will enhance the viewing experience for participants at our monthly STAR PARTIES, SOLAR VIEWING and OUTREACH events.
Recent acquisitions to our astronomical viewing arsenal include a mounted pair of 20x80 astronomical binoculars featuring a 3.2-degree field of view; a CCD eyepiece camera; and a spectacular 52-degree apparent-field eyepiece for use with our largest reflecting telescopes. We’ll discuss how these items may be used at observing events and to enhance our outreach efforts.
Participants are encouraged to bring along and show off their own astronomical equipment! We'll provide expert assistance with set-up and alignment, as well as helpful tips on care/maintenance, and getting the most out of your gear!
