In astrology, every zodiac sign also connects to one of the three Qualities: Cardinal, Fixed, or Mutable. These Qualities describe the way energy moves and expresses itself. Cardinal signs love to begin and take action, Fixed signs bring stability and persistence, and Mutable signs adapt and go with the flow. Together, they show us how people start things, keep them going, or change when needed. Knowing your sign’s Quality helps explain your personality, your strengths, and the way you approach life!
Class 7 – Qualities & Modes (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable)
In this class, students will learn how the Qualities (also called Modes)—Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable—bring dynamic movement and rhythm to the zodiac. While the Elements (Fire, Earth, Air, Water) describe what kind of energy is present, the Qualities reveal how that energy is expressed.
Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) – Initiators and leaders, they bring fresh starts, action, and momentum.
Fixed Signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) – Stabilizers and preservers, they hold energy steady, bringing determination and endurance.
Mutable Signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) – Adaptable and flexible, they shift energy, bridging change and transformation.
Students will explore how the Qualities interact with the Elements, creating the unique expression of each zodiac sign. We’ll also look at how these Modes play out in daily life—who starts the project, who sustains it, and who adapts it when change is needed.
By the end of this class, students will:
Understand the difference between Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable energy.
Recognize how the Qualities shape personality traits and life approaches.
See how the Qualities combine with Elements to form the foundation of all 12 zodiac signs.
Learn how to interpret Qualities in a birth chart for deeper insight into personal rhythms and relationship dynamics.
