While Decatur was first established in 1823, the town didn't grow immensely until the mid-1850s when two railroad companies built lines through the city. Agriculture boomed thanks to these railroad lines, and the town became an important distribution center. A bustling downtown was seemingly built overnight, and people from near and far came to enjoy this new modern city.
On today's scavenger hunt, you'll step back in time and learn about the early years of Abraham Lincoln, look for clues of Decatur's vibrant past and seek out buildings restored to their glory days.
