"Assassins" is a provocative musical by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman that delves into the lives of nine individuals who attempted or succeeded in assassinating U.S. presidents. Through a darkly satirical lens, it explores themes of the American Dream and the pursuit of personal glory. The show has received critical acclaim, including Tony Awards for Best Revival of a Musical and Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
The musical features a diverse cast of characters, each with their own motivations and backstories. The score blends various musical styles, from folk to vaudeville, to reflect the different eras and personalities of the characters. "Assassins" challenges audiences to confront uncomfortable truths about ambition, fame, and the lengths individuals will go to achieve their desires.
