We meet in the annex building at Plexpod from 6-8pm. All ages, free, pizza served with a suggested donation of $5.KC Center for Inclusion's ASL Club is a Deaf-led, LGBTQIA+ affirming space for anyone who wants an opportunity to practice sign language! Deaf, hard of hearing, late deafened, and hearing folks are welcome to join us. Pizza will be provided for free, with a suggested donation of $5 to support KCCI.
This is not an ASL class, but rather an opportunity to practice your communication skills in a supportive environment with all levels of learners. Brand new signers are welcome to join, and it will be fully immersive: voices off!
If you would like to learn ASL, we recommend learning from Deaf teachers! Here are some great options for learning:
-in person classes at The Whole Person in Kansas City
-online classes at Queer ASL
-ASL Bloom and Lingvano (mobile apps)
-Bill Vicars has free learning materials on his website. If you have no prior knowledge, you may consider starting by watching one of his videos:
