Join us on Monday 17th June at 6:30 pm for a special Ask Us Anything! A panel discussion with members of the Edinburgh Queer Writers Network. The theme of the discussion is publishing, so please come along with your questions for the panel to gain insights into the processes and practices of writing, publishing, and marketing.
Joining us on the evening we will have Elle Machray. Elle (they/her) lives in Edinburgh and studied Politics at the University of Leeds.
Elle started in writing in lockdown and was selected to join the inaugural cohort of the HarperCollins Author Academy in 2021.
Elle's first book, REMEMBER, REMEMBER reimagines the gunpowder plot and was chosen by The Observer as one of the ten best debut novels being released in 2024. REMEMBER, REMEMBER was also longlisted for the Mslexia Novel Prize, judged by the late Dame Hilary Mantel.
Alongside Elle, we have Lily X who is a #1 Amazon best-selling author with a love for trope-y interracial sapphic romance.
Her latest romantasy series, The Seventh Star, uproots the noticeably thin and white representation in queer fiction to provide a diverse, fantasy-driven take on sapphic literature. Check out her Seventh Star series on Amazon or her New World Series on Harlequin.
Joining the panel will be Jennifer Andreacchi. Jennifer Andreacchi (she/they) is the Publicity & Marketing Officer at Edinburgh-based independent publisher Birlinn where she helps implement comprehensive marketing strategies for fiction, nonfiction, academic, and poetry titles. She completed an MLitt at the University of St Andrews in Women, Writing and Gender and began her career as a content writer and marketing executive before joining the Birlinn team and the publishing industry in early 2022. She is passionate about relationship building with authors and journalists, as well as creative innovation on social media and accessibility & inclusion in publishing. Some recent highlights published by Birlinn include - Queen Macbeth by Val McDermid, Rabbits by Hugo Rifkind, Weak Teeth by Lynsey May, Rizzio by Denise Mina, Hex by Jenni Fagan, Nothing Left to Fear from Hell by Alan Warner and Columba's Bones by David Greig.
And the event is being chaired by Pernina Jacobs - founder of the Edinburgh Queer Writers Network.
