About The Show

Venu Shamapant is a founding partner of LiveOak Ventures and has been investing in early-stage Texas-based companies and founders since 1999.

Prior to founding LiveOak, Venu was a General Partner at Austin Ventures, where he invested in companies producing more than $1.5B in enterprise value. Prior to joining Austin Ventures, he was with McKinsey & Co., serving clients in the enterprise systems and software markets. He started his professional career as a software developer and engineering lead at Mentor Graphics.

Venu received his MBA from Harvard Business School, MS in Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Osmania University, India.

After over a decade of successful early stage investing in Texas, in 2012, Krishna Srinivasan and Venu Shamapant founded LiveOak based on a conviction that Texas had all the DNA for a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. They believed that a venture capital firm that was maniacally focused on Texas entrepreneurs could be the key catalyst to harness the full potential of this market and build category dominating companies of the future.

Today Texas is indeed a vibrant center for entrepreneurship, enabled by the combination of a strong and growing talent pool and an active early-stage investment ecosystem. LiveOak has continued to lead the way with over 60 investments just in the past decade and helped create numerous winners across many categories.

This success has convinced the founders to double down on their Texas entrepreneur-focused strategy and to establish the strong foundations that help develop the leaders of the future. The firm is All-In on Texas.
