Please join the Asian Women Lawyers Committee as we host Women in Law Panel Discussion and Get-Together on 9 February 2023.
About this Event

The Asian Women Lawyers Committee (part of New Zealand Asian Lawyers) is delighted to bring together three Asian women lawyers who are at different stages in their careers and have gone in different directions with their law degrees.

We will hear from Lyn Lim (from partnership to governance), Lucy Luo (tech and start-ups, currently First AML) and Seil Kimberley (criminal defence and prosecution).

Lyn Lim was a partner at a national NZ law firm and specialised in commercial, corporate and governance issues, before retiring from the partnership and taking on a wide range of governance roles across both the private and public sectors (including but not limited to being on the Boards of Public Trust, Restaurant Brands and the Asia New Zealand Foundation).

Lucy Luo started off as a corporate lawyer in Auckland, and when she later shifted to a tech-focused boutique law firm it opened up opportunities to work in the tech startup space all over the world (doing venture capital in Singapore and customer success at a SaaS company in Amsterdam). In 2020 she returned to New Zealand and joined a compliance tech company, as the Chief of Staff at First AML.

Seil Kimberley has seen criminal law from both the defence and the prosecution side, having started in a general practice law firm before gravitating towards her interest in criminal justice and working firstly as a criminal defence lawyer at Public Defence Service, and now as a benefit fraud prosecutor at the Ministry of Social Development.

This is the first in-person session where members (regardless of gender and stage of career) can meet the speakers and the newly formed Asian Women Lawyers Committee, and get to know each other in a relaxed casual setting. Join us to create a supportive network where we can share our experiences and ideas for the kind of legal community that we want to be a part of.
