About Fuhlin
My name is Fuhlin, and I’m thrilled to share my journey in cooking. I was born in Taiwan, where the cuisine blends regional Chinese flavors with Japanese influences—a reflection of the island’s rich history. Later, I moved to the U.S., where I added a Western layer to my culinary style.
With a background in fine art, I’ve spent over 30 years as an artist and teacher, working primarily in watercolor—a medium I love for its spontaneity and unpredictability. Much like painting, I approach cooking intuitively, relying on my senses—taste, smell, touch, and sight—to guide me rather than strictly following recipes. Inspired by Ratatouille, I discovered the joy of pairing ingredients to create balance and unique flavors.
My cooking journey began 15 years ago when I moved to Northern California and started blending my Asian heritage, Western influences, and artistic instincts to create dishes that reflect my love for texture, color, contrast, and balance. I’m excited to share this approach with you and hope it sparks creativity in your own kitchens!
