The New Zealand Young Asian Lawyers Committee presents its first Wellington panel speaker event "Asian Experiences in the Legal Profession".
About this Event

Hosted by Buddle Findlay, NZ Asian Lawyers Young Lawyers Committee introduces a diverse panel. The panellists will each speak to their lived experiences as Asians working in Aotearoa New Zealand's legal profession, as well as provide insight and thought leadership on ethnic diversity in the profession more broadly.

The event aims to connect members of the legal profession across the field: law students, upcoming lawyers and lawyers up to 7 PQE.

Please see below for information on the panel speakers:

  • Jaini Patel (she/her) is a solicitor at Manatū Ahu Matua - the Ministry for Primary Industries in the Biosecurity & Animal Welfare law team. She started her career at a large law firm in Wellington. Jaini previously served two terms on the executive of the Aotearoa Legal Workers’ Union and was a member of the Wellington Branch Council of Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa - the New Zealand Law Society. She loves playing the ukulele, jamming to Taylor Swift, making origami, and baking.

  • Anna Ou慧欣 is currently an Assistant Crown Counsel at Te Tari Ture o te Karauna – the Crown Law Office in the Treaty team. She started her legal career in an immigration and refugee practice in Wellington. In her University days, Anna has interned at the Whitireia Community Law Centre, and was also the President of Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University's Asian Law Students' Association.

  • Delia Fu (she/her) is a solicitor in the financial services regulations team at Buddle Findlay. Prior to this role, she started her career working in tax advisory at a big 4 accounting firm, before making the switch to law early 2023.
