About ASECCC 2024
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has confirmed that 2023 is on track to become the hottest year ever recorded with a global temperature increase of 1.4 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Global leaders are gathering to limit the temperature rise but bolder action is needed. COP28 commits countries to triple renewable energy capacity and double energy efficiency by 2030 but current efforts lag behind the depletion of the carbon budget. The lack of energy access in Asia further emphasises the urgency. To address these challenges the Asia Solar Energy for Climate Change Conference (ASECCC) aims to accelerate renewable energy deployment and foster collaboration among stakeholders. It calls for immediate action to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
Asia Solar Energy for Climate Change Conference (ASECCC) 2024 which will be held virtually from 26-28 June 2024 organised by CCIL held mid-way between COP28 and COP29 serves as a stark reminder of the insufficiency of current efforts to address the climate crisis. The theme of this year is “The Future of Renewables: Closing the Gap for Energy Just Transition in Asia”. ASECCC urges national governments international organisations and all stakeholders to unite prioritise renewable energy expansion and take decisive action for a livable planet.
