The ASI Sommelier Certification 1 will take place in Auckland on Friday 10 December, 2-6pm.
The ASI Certification 1 assesses competencies covering the accepted international knowledge an assistant sommelier requires to perform her/his duties appropriately.
The focus is on products with global relevance, international cuisine and practices validated in the ASI Guidelines.
This list of competencies will evolve with time to reflect the evolution of the sommelier profession while staying true to the values of the ASI.
Questions of different formats will be used:
short answers, multiple choices, maps, fill the blanks, pictures, link the good answer, short descriptions, calculations...
Note that for multiple choices, an incorrect answer may yield a penalty point as per the ASI Guidelines.
The assessment will consist of 100 questions, yielding different points based on their complexity. The minimum pass mark is 65%
The total of possible points shall be spread according to the following indicative formula:
- Wine Knowledge 45%
- Viticulture and Oenology 10%
- Spirits 10%
- Sommelier Skills 25%
- Other Beverages 10%
Registration by invitation only - Registration closes on 12, November at 5pm.
