About this Event
A singer who represents the jazz vocal tradition with the elegance, rhythmic sense, and joy of her predecessors, Ashley Pezzotti is a new and exciting voice emerging from the New York jazz scene. Just 25, she’s already toured and recorded with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO), she has also performed with acclaimed trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, and piano virtuoso Joey Alexander. Pezzotti prompted longtime JLCO trumpeter/arranger Marcus Printup to comment: “Ashley Pezzotti is a 'singer’s singer'. Not only does she deliver timeless melodies (standards and her original compositions), she has also mastered the art of 'scat singing' and can hold her own with any horn player.” Ashley will debut new music for this Birdland appearance, featuring original compositions inspired by the Great American Songbook. With her effortless vocal technique and remarkable stage presence, she performs rich interpretations of familiar songs and hidden gems.
Ashley will be joined by Miki Yamanaka on piano.
