About this Event
Welcome to the Ashfield STEM Boost Workshop!
Date & Time: Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00–7:30pm, from late October 2025 through the end of January 2026 (excluding school holidays).
Location: The Summit Centre, Ashfield.
Description:
The Ashfield STEM Boost Programme, delivered by The Three’s Club on behalf of Ashfield District Council and funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, is a professional development initiative for educators, Jobcentre staff, VCSE practitioners and other frontline professionals.
The programme strengthens the capacity of local stakeholders to guide young people and NEET adults into meaningful STEM pathways. The workshops are not about technical training, but about equipping staff with the skills, confidence and resources to:
- Understand why STEM careers are critical to Ashfield’s long-term prosperity and community wellbeing.
- Recognise and challenge stereotypes that limit participation and entry into STEM-related career pathways.
- Connect everyday skills to real opportunities in healthcare and life sciences, digital and IT, engineering and advanced manufacturing, energy and green technologies, and other growth sectors.
- Signpost learners towards training, work experience and employment routes across these fields.
Each participant should select an initial Wednesday or Thursday session to begin the programme. After that, they will be allocated to a cohort and contacted with the dates for their remaining three workshops. Workshops will combine local labour market insights, interactive activities and contributions from industry professionals. The sessions are practical by design, enabling staff to apply what they learn directly in classrooms, support sessions and community settings.
By the end of the programme, participants will be better prepared to raise aspirations, broaden access and ensure STEM careers remain visible and achievable for all Ashfield residents.
