Asheville-based troubadour Ben Balmer is a singer, songwriter, harmonica player, and guitarist originally from Ypsilanti, Michigan He’s played in all 48 of the contiguous United States, throughout Canada, and has done months-long stints in Japan and the UK.
Balmer’s music is colored not only by his musical influences (everything from Bela Barton to the J. Geils Band), but also by novelists such as C.S. Lewis and Cormac McCarthy.
His rootsy, lyric-driven Americana is the rare kind that is meticulously crafted yet has undeniable mass appeal. Balmer’s third and latest album Honky-Tonk Macbeth (2021)
was hailed as “...one of those pleasant oddities that pops up now and then, an effort that brims with clever ideas matched with top musicianship” by Texas Music Magazine. After 14 years in Austin, Texas, Balmer made the move to Asheville North Carolina in 2022
and is touring continuously in addition to working on his next record.
Sarah Kohrs is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose work as both a writer and performer spans genres ranging from pop to folk-rock, and artists from Elton John and Adele to Dolly Parton. Her ability to captivate an audience ensures that every room she plays is a listening room. With a unique emotional depth and a deep desire to bring joy to the lives of others, Sarah throws herself fully into each moment she is onstage, embodying the stories, melodies, and emotions that she conveys. Simply put, Sarah loves music. And, when watching her perform, you will too.
Peter Tart played guitar and flute in a high school Rock n Roll band called The Tumbleweeds. He likes a well written song and sites John Gorka and Anna Tivel as two musicians who have influenced his writing. We met Peter in 2018/2019 when hosting doing open mics at the guitar bar. Peter was only listening as an onlooker at the time.
