ashes to ashes

Curated by Jurnee Ta'Zion, CIA graduate and visual artist, “ashes to ashes.” is an immersive group exhibition that contemplates the perpetual relationship between death and rebirth as it relates to nature. Drawing artwork and installations from The Nature of Healing, this exhibition resonates with the age-old metaphor, “ashes to ashes, dust to dust.” Far from being a simple declaration of finality, this phrase speaks to the eternal truth that all life returns to the Earth, becoming one with the soil, nourishing new growth, and transforming into life anew.

The sense of impermanence within our mortality can be a difficult concept to navigate or to find comfort in. Nevertheless, this exhibition invites viewers to face the full spectrum of emotions that arise when contemplating death, while fostering a sense of peace and acceptance regarding the finiteness of all life.

By offering multimedia art and interactive installations that engage the senses and the Earth itself, the exhibition deepens visitors’ connection to nature and allows for the exploration of life’s transformative nature. “ashes to ashes.” becomes a space where grief, memory, and mourning coexist with consolation, growth, and the quiet beauty of returning to the Earth.
