Ash Wednesday is the beginning of a forty-day journey of fasting, repentance, and prayer that leads us toward the cross of Jesus and his resurrection. This day illustrates to us—through literal ashes—our humanity. We remember that we are frail, that we miss the mark (we sin), that we will die; and because of these things, we are dependent upon the love and mercy of God shown to us through Jesus. This service will use ancient symbols of ash (for repentance), oil (for healing), and bread and cup (for the journey).
Please prepare ashes, oil, bread, and juice for the elements of this service at home if you choose to watch ONLINE on Facebook or YouTube.
