About this Event
In ancient Greece, dreams were understood to be visitations from Asclepius, the revered god of medicine and healing. People would travel long distances and make significant personal sacrifices to visit one of more than 300 Asclepian temples around the ancient world, in hopes of receiving a healing dream. They would undergo a process of ritual cleansing, eat a special diet, and experience emotional catharthis through watching theater and listening to music before entering the sanctuary to sleep for the night.
Come learn the fascinating history of this ancient traditional practice, and explore how aspects of it can be integrated into more contemporary approaches to dreamwork. Tessy Seward and Gabriella Damianaki will share the story of Asclepius and the long tradition of dream healing as practiced in the ancient world. They'll also share their recent experiences with seeking healing dreams in Greece, and guide participants in the development of a personal dream incubation practice.
