Safe Systems Planning in Alachua County
About this Event

Presentation Description- Alison Moss, Transportation Planning Manager for Alachua County, will provide a presentation on Safe Systems planning and the County's Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Action Plan. She will outline the robust community and stakeholder engagement processes, which have provided a framework for plan development. Further, she will detail the development of the County’s High Injury Network (HIN) and the identification of five systemic trends and geographic hot spots. Attend to learn more about the County’s findings and next steps towards eliminating fatal and serious injury crashes.

Presenter's Bio- Alison Moss, AICP is a Transportation Planner with 13 years of experience and specific expertise in Active Transportation. She has worked in both private and public sectors on the planning, design, and management of Active Transportation projects. She is passionate about making walking and biking safe and attractive choices for people of all ages and abilities.In her current role, as Alachua County’s Transportation Planning Manager, Alison reviews and coordinates transportation improvements that come through private development, local municipalities, County Public Works, the Gainesville Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO), and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). She has applied for and received several State and Federal transportation grants. She proposes revisions to the County’s Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations to support equitable and safe transportation. Alison is currently managing both the Countywide Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan – a joint venture between the County, City of Gainesville, and University of Florida – and the Alachua County Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Action Plan.
