Course Description:

Acute Stress Adaptive Protocol (ASAP) training is a course designed for first responder peer support teams, chaplains and clinicians. It uses an EMDR-based intervention specifically designed for first responders and peer support teams to address the repeated and acute nature of traumatic stress. It was designed by a former police officer who later became an EMDR consultant. The ASAP is the culmination of over 30 years of clinical and practical experience in working in the field with first responders.

The ASAP is both a group and individual intervention designed to be administered peer to peer. You do not need to be a licensed mental health professional. ASAP research has shown that it is safe, effective, relevant, and efficient. It has been proven to decrease post-traumatic stress symptoms by 44% in first responders.

Instructor:

The ASAP training will be facilitated by Stephanie M. Conn, PhD, ABPP. Dr. Conn, a former police officer, specializes in stress, trauma, coping, peer support & resilience. She is Board Certified as a Police & Public Safety psychologist with 28 years of combined experience working in the first responder field. She supports first responder agencies with CISM, peer support, & mental health training, contributing to national peer support guidelines.
