
About this Event
The ASAP Coalition invites counselors, social workers, chemical dependency professionals, nurses, recovery support providers, community advocates and anyone interested in learning how to build recovery in our community and within the clients that they serve, to attend the 2025 ASAP Drug Summit.
Mark Sanders, LCSW, CADC, of the Great Lakes Addiction Technology Transfer Center & Mental Health Technology Transfer Center will be back by popular demand. His keynote presentation, The Therapeutic Benefits of Humor in Substance Use Disorders Treatment and Recovery will explore how laughter improves our physical, mental, emotional and immune health, the use of humor to increase organizational morale and the Ethical Considerations when using humor in substance use disorders treatment. This promises to be a fun learning experience.
After lunch, attendees will have the opportunity to hear Karen Vadino, Motivational Speaker, Humorist, Trainer and Consultant. Karen's presentation on Self- Compassion is sure to be delivered with her distinctively humorous approach to life and work.
In the afternoon, participants have the choice of attending two of five breakout sessions:

- Sleep: The Low-Hanging Fruit in Supporting Sobriety and Mental Health: Stacey Simera, MSSA, LISW-S- Kent Psychological Associates
- The Emerging Threat of Xylazine: Dr. Carolanne Semancik PCC-S, LICDC-CS - Glenbeigh
- Right or Wrong? The Ethics of Harm Reduction: Amanda Kantaras LPCC-S, LICDC, Case Western Reserve University Center for Evidence Based Practices
- Mindfulness and Meditation Mind/Body Practices for Substance Use Treatment: Dr. Sherri Harper Woods, DMin, LISW-S, EMDR Certified Therapist, CYT-500- Mind, Body & Soul
Objective: Participants in this day long professional development workshop will learn about combatting the issues surrounding addiction, develop knowledge of effective treatment, prevention & recovery interventions to help those battling addiction, and gain information and resources to continue advancing prevention, treatment and recovery in their communities.
$75.00 Registration fee includes: Continental Breakfast and Boxed Lunch, 6 hours of CEs for Counselors, Social Workers and Chemical Dependency Professionals
Registration after May 2nd will be accepted with a late registration fee. No registrations will be accepted after May 9th. No refunds will be issued after May 9th. A $2.50 service fee will be deducted from all refunds.
Masks are not required in classroom settings at Kent State Trumbull. We urge our Drug Summit attendees to make the best decision on an individual basis whether to continue masking. We ask all participants to be respectful of the decisions of others and to continue to take any necessary personal precautions against COVID-19.
