Supporting the self-determination of the K@shmiri people involves deep reparations as a long term action. It is important that we recognize and honor the various power dynamics and multi-dimensional experiences in our communities that are shaped by caste, class, gender, religion, genocide, occupation, displacement, etc. Awareness of these dynamics & our positionalities must reflect how we move in South Asian spaces. Savarnas hold deep responsibility to challenge and dismantle India’s military occupation and settler colonialism of K@shmir, as they benefit from it & lead this genocidal project. As many Dalit activists have expressed, Savarna wealth must be redistributed and de-brahmanized and reparations are owed to communities who have been and are actively harmed by Hindu fascism.
Mutual aid intervenes on these structures dominant caste folks have used to build inherited wealth, land, and power through labor exploitation and land dispossession. We encourage folks with caste/class privilege to make a monthly commitment to wealth redistribution and/or reparations through @kalamamutualaid. In the past, Kalama Mutual Aid has collected funds directly supporting food and safety for trans folks in K@shmir, Equality Labs' caste equity fund, Sogorea Te' Land Trust land rematriation project, and other movements fighting transnational fascism. You can make this monthly commitment here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSedjhQPpC-iurG3B4RibggVsulp89N4-JKqXgoYsI0BRc9CFA/viewform
