About this Event
Celebrate the life and art of Black American, Mexican Citizen, and Social Activist, Elizabeth Catlett. Learn how she used her political art to express her support and understanding for those who are marginalized and excluded from society and art based on their race, gender and class. Her prints and sculpture celebrate black and brown women of the United States, Latin America, and Africa , as well as supporting the Black Civil Rights movements in the U.S.
Her life in Mexico provides the inspiration for our Cinco de Mayo themed event which will feature festive decor and includes a box of Mexican nibbles, along with a cash bar.
We honor her African heritage with our door prize of a quilt whose top was hand painted and purchased in a South African Market. The lucky winner could be you!
No need to print out your ticket, we will have your name on a list at the door!
