Arts on the Square opens its 2025-2026 exhibit season with “Along the River & Beyond,” landscape paintings by Harrisburg artists Jonathan Frazier and Carrie Wissler-Thomas with a reception from 12:00-1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, in the Geneva Hall gallery space (fourth floor) at Market Square Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Second Street, Harrisburg. Admission to the exhibit and opening reception are free of charge.For “Along the River & Beyond,” Frazier’s works will include recent oil paintings from New Orleans, the Susquehanna River, and Gettysburg. Wissler-Thomas will show lyrical and shimmering landscapes of the Susquehanna River and of Scotland, where she and her husband travel annually.
Dillsburg native Frazier studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and Kutztown University, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art. He began exhibiting with the popular Harrisburg area “Seven Lively Artists” group in the 1990s and has had work selected into competitive juried shows at numerous galleries.
Wissler-Thomas is a longtime arts leader and innovator in the region, having served as the Executive Director of the Art Association of Harrisburg since 1984. A graduate of Hood College, she holds a master’s degree from Temple University. She has held over 35 solo exhibitions, and her paintings have appeared in many group exhibitions throughout central Pennsylvania.
The exhibit is also open following the concert by organist Alcee Chriss III at 4:00 p.m. on September 28 and closes on December 14. Complimentary parking is available in the Market Square Garage adjacent to the church.
