Arts in the Heart is a celebration showcasing the multicultural pride of the West Sacramento community. Visitors to this FREE family-friendly event can experience music and dance performances, visual art, and hands-on art activities. There will also be community informational booths.
Cocina Doña Chuyita Food Truck will be serving authentic Mexican cuisine.
Event Features
⭐ Decorate a take-home ceramic Calavera (sugar skull) and participate in our Calavera Contest. The City's Arts Commissioners will vote on the best decorated.
While supplies last.
⭐ Chalk The Walk - the sidewalk between the Community Center and Los Rios Community College will be a chalk art surface (weather permitting)
Special art exhibit featuring painter Verónica Kovats Sánchez
⭐ Add a picture to commemorate a passed loved one to the Community Center’s altar for Día De Los Muertos
⭐ Dress in your favorite Catrin or Catrina attire
⭐ Dance performances by multiple cultures
⭐ Free light refreshments
⭐ Free raffle prizes
Transportation & Parking
There is limited street parking along West Capitol Ave. Visitors may use the City Hall and Community Center parking lots. Please use crosswalks and use the entrance on the southside of the building, by the Community Center parking lot.
For Community Center Parking: Turn onto Merkley Ave, use the parking lot entrance at the Arthur F. Turner Yolo County Library. Continue straight through the parking lot and the Community Center parking is to the right.
The West Sacramento Parks & Recreation Department at the West Sacramento Community Center organizes this event.
