Arts in Bloom is an art installation that serves as a metaphor for growth, transformation, and the interconnectedness of life in Detroit. Just as a garden thrives through the harmony of its plants, our communities flourish hrough human connection. The exhibit invites visitors to reflect on their personal growth and the city's evolution by planting a symbolic seed of hope. Whether for themselves or for Detroit, each participant's contribution represents a wish for transformation, resilience, and renewal. These seeds, displayed as part of the installation, will embody the collective dreams and aspirations of a flourishing community. Arts in Bloom weaves together individual visions and shared commitments, cultivatin a vibrant, compassionate Detroit.

Lisa S. Anderson was born in 1967 in Detroit, MI where she currently resides and works. Her art practice has evolved into making large-scale paintings that explore the process and the beauty of healing from physical and emotional traumas. Lisa is a self-taught artist and is informed by the experiences of others along with her own personal narrative. She employs both mixed media and fiber/textiles to investigate her subject matter while using familiar materials to convey a message of healing.
Anderson’s work has appeared in selected exhibitions with The Crain’s Communications World Headquarters Rotating Arts Program, The Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club, Kayrod Gallery, 2023 (permanent group exhibition), Detroit, MI, USA: The Connected To All Exhibition, Beacon Park, 2023 (group exhibition), Detroit, MI, USA, and The BasBlue 2nd Quarter Exhibition 2023 in partnership with Wasserman Works, (group exhibition), Detroit, MI, USA. Her work can also be found in collections including those of Harper Galleries of Art & Interiors and artist Scott McDuffie.
In addition to her art practice, Anderson is an advocate of the arts, highlighting not only the importance of artistic expression but also teaching other artists about the art of business with the understanding that to be a successful artist the business elements must be in place. She is a member of The Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club and The Power of Abstraction.
