Arts Days 2025 – This Must Be the Place: Land-based Art Fieldtrip

Saturday, September 13, 1:30 – 4:00pm (Registration required - Meet at Casa for FREE shuttle bus)
Join us for This Must Be the Place – Land-Based Art, a professional development session exploring the deep connection between art and place through the lens of Blackfoot land-based artistic practices in southern Alberta.
Held at a stunning fall location in Pavan Park, this gathering highlights how artistic expression is rooted in landscape, tradition, and cultural memory. The session is facilitated by Blood Tribe artist, musician, and storyteller Jared Tailfeathers, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in land-based teachings and Indigenous art. Participants will gain firsthand insight into how Blackfoot culture integrates the land into its creative traditions through visual storytelling, petroglyphs, beadwork, parfleche design, and contemporary practices. This is an opportunity to engage in reflective, interactive learning with one of the region’s most respected cultural voices.
