ARTS & TRASH is a for people who see themselves as a garbage-can (as opposed to a garbage can’t)We’ll be getting together for an afternoon of collaboration and problem solving. Each attendee will create a piece of work in the rapidly mutating style and process of RC Hagans. Elements of graffiti, folk-art, assemblage, high-art, collage, and ADD will come together to create a piece like no other. Each student is welcome (but not required) to bring their own junk they haven’t been able to let go of because “I’ll use it someday” well, this is the day. The pile of magazines, jar of buttons, half empty jar of aqua-marine house paint, a broken picture frame, these are all the elements that will come together with the help of our good friend RC to create your newest piece. Sometimes art is a slow delicate process, this is not that time. We’ll move fast and set you up for success.
Intermediate to advanced skill level
$200 per student
Items supplied by student:
Bring a paper cutting tool, a couple of your favorite brushes, clothes that can handle a splash or 2 of paint, and any junk or “treasures” you’d like to use on your work, as well as any you’d like to share or simply let go of. If there are any tools/materials you feel you have to use feel free to bring those along as well. Most importantly, come with an open mind, spirit of collaboration and a positive attitude.
Materials provided by instructor:
RC will bring a marry Poppins bag full of his favorite outsider art supplies. Aerosol paints, glues, bottle caps, vintage year books, paper scraps, stencils, found objects etc…
