Artrio, a New Mexico–based powerhouse trio featuring pianist John Funkhouser, bassist Terry Burns and drummer Arnaldo Acosta, is proud to present their latest collaborative effort “Artrio–two,” a collection of original compositions and arrangements by all three members of the group and the second in a series of recordings exploring the intimate dynamics of the trio setting. The trio comprises three of New Mexico most respected sidemen and leaders, all of whom have performed with local, regional, national, and international artists. They are also each accomplished composers and arrangers. John Funkhouser, a native of the Boston area, has performed and/or recorded with Joe Lovano, Charles Neville, Steve Gadd, Abe Laboriel Sr., Bobby Watson and Tierney Sutton. Terry Burns, originally from Clovis, New Mexico has performed and/or recorded with Freddie Hubbard, Gene Harris, Ray Bryant, Von Freeman, Teddy Edwards, Lenny White, Joanne Brakeen, Dewey Redman and many others. He has won numerous awards for his music including two nominations from the Minnesota Music Awards and 5 nominations from the New Mexico Music Awards (with 3 wins in the last 5 years). Drummer Arnaldo Acosta, originally from the Dominican Republic, has performed with many great jazz and Latin artists including Al Dimeola, Lorenzo Antonio, Sparx, Dimi DiSanti, Café Mocha and Felix Peralta. $30/$20 Outpost. $15 students with current valid ID.
